NHAI to build an interchange where the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway meets SP Ring Road
NHAI has invited bids for a ₹124.40 crore interchange at the expressway’s Ahmedabad end, replacing the current circle at the SP Ring Road junction with dedicated ramps and service roads. Completion is targeted within 18 months.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids to build an interchange at the starting point of the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, where it meets the Sardar Patel Ring Road (SPRR) in Ahmedabad.
Until now, the junction has only had a circle, which could have become a traffic chokepoint as movement on the expressway grows.

The layout
The interchange plan includes dedicated ramps and service roads for movement between the expressway and the SPRR. The plan shows Ramp-1 connecting Bakrol towards Dholera and Ramp-2 connecting Dholera towards Sanathal, with service roads on either side. The layout is designed to give smoother connectivity between the expressway and the existing ring road network.
About the expressway
The 109.019 km Ahmedabad–Dholera Greenfield Expressway (NE-8) was inaugurated earlier this year and has improved connectivity between Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and the Dholera Special Investment Region. Built at a cost of ₹5,800 crore, it has cut travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to around 45 minutes, while also improving access to the upcoming Dholera International Airport and boosting investor interest in the region.
The project reused 60 lakh metric tonnes of municipal waste and 22 lakh metric tonnes of fly ash, alongside extensive plantation.
